How to Facebook

How to Facebook

Well, although this is a Facebook investment page, there have been a lot of queries on 'how to Facebook' so we thought we would give some useful advice in this regard.

The first step is to sign up for a Facebook account. This can be done through there website at www.facebook.com.

Once your here, you are required to enter in your:

  1. First Name
  2. Surename
  3. Email (twice for verification)
  4. A New Password
  5. Your Gender, Age and Date of Birth
Make sure you enter in your real name as facebook is cracking down on false accounts which the reckon are in the millions!

Once you have set-up your account, you can just follow the easy steps and prompts. They will try and help you find friends and people that you know via your email accounts and addresses. Once you have added a few people they will offer suggestions of other people you may know.

Now it is time to set up your profile. You can add a a background picture to your timeline and and a profile picture. You can then add in a bunch of other details about your self including what school you went to and whether you are in a relationship or seeking a partner. Remember Face book is a social site, not a dating page.

Once you have everything set up you will notice that you have a page called your 'Wall' This can be used to post status update about your self or whatever you want and other people can post stuff on your wall as well. Keep in mind, all your freinds can see posts on your wall and if you post on someone else's wall, all their freinds can see the posts. There have been many embarrassing moments of mothers and fathers posting comments like 'I love you my sweet little darling honey puff' on their child's walls thinking its a private message, well it's not! Facebook is all about sharing your life extravertily with your freinds and other people through photos, comments and links.

Photos and Tagging

You can upload photos easily. From the left menu, just click on photos and then click on upload photos at the top. Their is also a my albums tab so that you can easily very your uploaded pictures. If you upload a photo with someone else in it you can 'tag' them and visa versa. This means that they will show up on their own facebook and the facebooks of their friends so be careful of who photographs you and what you are doing at the time. You can always untag yourself but once a picture goes online it is likely to be online forever.

Privacy

Facebook has made their privacy settings alot easier know, but they can still be a bit confusing. If you would like to see edit you can view different parts of your profile, click on the privacy settings tab from the drop down menu next to the home tab at the top.

Chatting

You will notice in the right hand column there is a chat section. Here you can chat live with other friends that are online. From the edit chat settings at the bottom, you can make yourself appear online or off line to make yourself available or not available for chat.

Apps

In the left hand column, you will find an app tab. This allows you to add third party applications to your Facebook account. This is software that allows you to do certain specific activities that are developed by companies other than Facebook

Well, we hope this has been a helpful beginners guide to facebook!
